Welcome to the Saint John Sound Map!
The Saint John Sound Map is part of a larger UNB psychology study.
How to use the map:
Click on the map where you would like to record the ambient noise of the city.
Click start recording, or upload a sound you have already recorded of this spot.
Leave your name or alias (this is not required; it is only a fun way to leave your mark on the map).
Click upload to map to upload your sound!
Things to remember:
If you would like to be entered in a draw for a Starbucks gift card, you must fill in information for:
Your email
The date and time you recorded the sound
What you recorded your sound with (use the dedicated field in the upload form)
A description of your sound
For each sound you upload and fill out the required information for, you get another entry in the draw.
Only environmental noises should be uploaded to the map (i.e., do not record a conversation with your friend).
Any inappropriate sound or information will be deleted from the map.
The sound and information you add to the map will be visible publicly (except your email, which is saved in a separate collection accessible only to researchers/authenticated users).
Thank you for helping paint a sonic picture of our city!
