Part of a Larger UNB Psychology Study
Encryption: This website uses HTTPS (SSL) encryption. This means any information you send (audio files or location data) is "scrambled" while traveling from your device to our servers, preventing unauthorized interception.
Database Integration: This website is directly integrated with Google Firebase, a secure cloud-computing platform. When you click "Upload to Map," your file is sent directly to a private Firebase Storage bucket.
Access Control: We use Firebase Security Rules (server-side logic). These rules are configured so that only the research team can modify or delete the database.
Patriot Act: Your data will be stored on cloud servers located in the United States and as a result, this information may be subject to the USA PATRIOT Act, which allows US government or law enforcement agencies to access data under specific circumstances.
While the audio is made public on the map, your personal metadata (like your email, if provided for the draw) is stored in a separate, private database (Cloud Firestore) that is accessible only to the Principal Investigator.
